What OMT is and where it fits.

Orofacial myofunctional therapy focuses on patterns involving the tongue, lips, jaw, cheeks, and related muscles.

Exercise-based therapy for oral function.

I look at how the oral and facial muscles behave at rest and during specific movements. From there I teach structured exercises and awareness strategies. This can support nasal breathing habits, oral rest posture, tongue function, and lip closure as part of a broader care plan.

Four areas guide the work.

Nasal breathing habits

Building awareness and practicing daily patterns, when nasal breathing is medically appropriate.

Oral rest posture

Where the tongue, lips, and jaw sit at rest.

Tongue function

Posture, movement, and coordination.

Lip closure

Comfortable closed-mouth rest and the muscle patterns behind it.

Common reasons people explore OMT.

  • Mouth-breathing habits
  • Tongue-thrust patterns
  • Open-mouth rest posture
  • Orthodontic-related functional support
  • Pre- and post-procedure tongue-tie support
  • Difficulty noticing or changing oral habits

Assessment comes first.

The free discovery call helps me understand your patterns and whether therapy makes sense. From there, a comprehensive assessment is where I do the full hands-on evaluation.

My scope is specific.

I don't diagnose or treat medical, dental, orthodontic, speech, language, feeding, swallowing, sleep-apnea, or airway-obstruction conditions. When something falls outside OMT, I coordinate with the provider who handles it.
